[Bzeronews] Shincheonji volunteers Incheon branch participates in Vietnam war veterans commemoration
On June 6th , the 63th Memorial Day, Shincheonji volunteers Incheon branch (branch manager Joo Yoo Young) visited the memorial foundation of Vietnam War generals and veterans located in Seoul National Cemetery with the Yal-rak Veteran’s Association.
On this day the twenty members of Shincheonji volunteers offered the bereaved family and seventy members of Yal-rak Veteran’s Association with beverages and lunch to show love for its neighbors and the nation with a kind act.
Sik Bang Hok, the current manager of Yal-rak Veterans Association and chairman of NGO ‘Harmonization of Rose of Sharon and Lotus’ is a seventy-three year old Vietnam War Veteran. Chairman Sick Bang Hok said “With large number of local members as well as those visiting from overseas, it was difficult to have meals in nearby restaurants and the mobility of the senior members was a challenge. However, today’s event was carried out smoothly with the help from Shincheonji Volunteers”. He also said “We have held this event for the past 40 years to commemorate the vietnam war veterans and to meet the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers and the survivors that visit annually to hear stories about what had happened during the war”.
Hee Yun Kang, a 74 year old war veteran that used to be Company Platoon’s sergeant, flew all the way to Korea from Argentina for the commemoration. He remarked, “I immigrated to Argentina after the Vietnam war. However, I have been visiting the Seoul National Cemetry for the past 30 years annually to commemorate my comrades and the ones that still lives to this day. I miss them more than I miss my own flesh and blood”.
Official of the Shincheonji volunteers said “The commemoration has been a great opportunity to show gratitude to the patriots, Vietnam war veterans and bereaved families as well as inspire patriotism. We will continue to put effort in volunteering for Veterans Affairs”.
The Shincheonji volunteers promised to actively participate and volunteer for the next annual event as well. They finished their volunteering on this day by taking away food trash and sweeping the places near where the event was held. The volunteers further plans to hold ‘Love Our Nation and Peace Sharing’ event at the end of June.
