Have you ever heard that there is salvation only when you eat and drink the flesh and blood of Jesus? What do you think this means?
[Special Project] Have you ever heard that there is salvation only when you eat and drink the flesh and blood of Jesus? What do you think this means?
The growth of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji) is straining Christianity in Korea. Although the Christian Council of Korea defines Shincheonji as a heresy and all churches and denominations are trying to prepare countermeasures, this crackdown by the existing Church is being put to shame by the rapid growth of Shincheonji church.
Meanwhile, Pastor Sam Kyung Choi, who served as member of the ‘Heresy Investigation Committee’ of the Christian Council of Korea, recently published a book entitled 'The Doctrine and Evangelistic Strategy of Shincheonji: Analysis and Demonstration of 68 questions'. Although he ostracized Shincheonji by defining it a heresy, as a matter of fact he himself was stigmatized as heretic last year due to his insistence on the theory of triple deity and Mary’s post-menstrual pregnancy.
In light of controversy against author and Pastor Sam Kyung Choi over his theological qualifications, a request was made by fellow theologians to compare Pastor Choi’s insistency and answers. Among 68 questions posed by pastor Choi of Shincheonji’s doctrine, the answers from 4 people - including Shincheonji and 2 theology experts from other denominations who agreed to release doctrinal comparison content - will be posted. The first 10 answers have been posted and the second 10 will follow.

The Body of Christ and the Blood of the New Covenant indicates the commemoration of Jesus’ crucifixion
'The flesh and the blood’ means the body of Christ and the blood of the New Covenant, crucifixion for the forgiveness of our sins and commemoration of Jesus’ crucifixion.
"and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (1Corinthians 11:24-26)"

The flesh and the blood of Jesus means 'the word of life'.
Eat refers to the parable of hearing and perceiving the Word
The Jews misunderstood all of Jesus’ words as literal and physical, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus continued to speak.
"I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever. (John 6:53-58)"
Who would have wisdom to understand these words? Let's find out what it truly means to eat Jesus' flesh and blood.
